10 horns and the Dragon

Study Introduction

Most people understand the prophecy of ten earthly kings (as shown in the map below). This study will go further. Through Scripture, we will examine the biblical witness that there are also ten supernatural kings who come with Satan in the hour of temptation. They are with him in heaven during the first half hour. They come to earth in the second half hour. Together, this completes the full hour of temptation. Our purpose is to prove this clearly, simply, and scripturally.

the 10 FLESH KING’s kingdom (established by the u.n.)

This demonstrates the Earthly 10 kings that have power

the arrival of the “little horn” aka antichrist

“And indeed, many counsels were being given among its horns and behold, a different horn sprang up in the middle of them, a small one among its horns, and three of the previous horns dried up on account of it. And behold, eyes just like human eyes were in this horn, and a mouth speaking great boastful things, and it began to make war against the holy ones.”

(Daniel 7:8, LES)

This summarizes the arrival of Satan to the earth and the beginning of his open exercise of power of the first beast.

Revelation shows ten horns, representing ten kings. Yet it also speaks of seven kings. Why seven and not ten? Because three of the ten are subdued.

The hour of temptation must be understood as divided. The first half hour takes place in heaven. There is war in heaven. Michael the archangel casts Satan out with his 10 supernatural kings among other fallen angels.

The second half hour takes place on earth. Now cast down, Satan begins to exercise the power and authority of the first beast. In doing so, he subdues three of the ten kings. That is why Scripture can speak of ten horns yet also seven kings. Three are removed from power, leaving seven standing under his dominion, as they having one mind and the three didn’t. One can assume that these are the three Christian nations.

Understanding this division explains both the timing and the numbers.

The hour of temptation is a divided, appointed time in which Satan is cast from heaven and then exercises authority on earth. In that second half, he subdues three of the ten kings, leaving seven under his dominion, fulfilling the prophetic distinction between ten horns and seven kings.

“And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.” (Daniel 7:24, KJV 1900)

tHE SEATS OF THE 10 KINGS

“And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.” (Revelation 13:2, KJV 1900)
———

“And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.” (Revelation 13:12, KJV 1900)

the hour begins:

THE 10 SUPERNATURAL KINGS

“And the ten horns from that kingdom are ten kings who will be established, and another king will be established after these. And he will excel in and spread evil beyond the former kings, and he will overthrow three kings.” (Daniel 7:24, LES)
———

“And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.” (Revelation 17:12, KJV 1900)
———

“These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.” (Revelation 17:13, KJV 1900)

Understanding the “One Hour” of Revelation 17:12

Revelation 17:12 says the ten kings “have received no kingdom as yet, but receive power one hour with the beast.” This “one hour” does not refer to earthly kings ruling for sixty minutes. It refers to the hour of temptation, a specific prophetic period connected to Satan and his supernatural kings. It is important to understand: The earthly kings are not given an hour of rule. The hour belongs to Satan and his ten kings. It is their appointed time of authority. Scripture shows this hour is divided in two parts:

  • First half hour: War in heaven with his supernatural kings (and all the fallen angels)

  • Second half hour: Satan and his kings cast to earth.

This entire period fits within the prophetic five months. The hour is therefore understood as five months divided in half: Half in heaven. Half on earth. This clarification matters because it defines the length and structure of the hour of temptation. It is not symbolic chaos or an undefined period.

It is a measured, divided, and an appointed time. Understanding this protects us from confusion about who is ruling, how long they rule, and where that authority is exercised.

This clip demonstrates that Satan brings with him ten supernatural kings, because Revelation 17:12 says they “receive power one hour with the beast.”

The earthly kings are already established. They are not the “one hour.”

The one hour of temptation belongs to Satan and his kings. It is Satan and the ten supernatural kings who receive authority for that measured period of time, not the already existing earthly rulers.
